Iresine

Family: Amaranthaceae.

Iresine herbstii Hoo Common name(s): Beefsteak plant, Chicken gizzard, blood leaf
Iresine Genus of about 80 species of evergreen, erect or climbing perennials, annuals, and subshrubs from dry, open areas in South America and Australia. The Iresines are colorful foliage plants. Iresine has remarkable wine red leaves and stems. Iresines are sun-lowers - keep away from a south-facing window the colours tend to fade and growth becomes lank and straggly. Cut out growing tips occasionally to provide bushiness. Iresine herbstii grows about 2 ft high.
Growing conditions Watering and misting Propagation
Average warmth in summer - minimum 55F in winter.Brightly lit spot. Keep well away from direct sunlight. Keep compost moist at all times but never waterlogged. Reduce watering in winter. Use soft, tepid water. Misting is necessary. Take stem-tip cuttings at any time.

clip off the top and place it into a cup or jar with water that way the roots can really get a good head start. roughly 3 or 4 weeks. then place the plant into either the same pot or a different soil pot:)
