Zygopetalum

Family: Orchidaceae.

Zygopetalum mackeyi Hook. (syn. Z. mackaii)
Zygopetalum Genus of about 40 species of medium-sized, evergreen, epiphytic or terrestrial orchids native to South America, occuring in warm rainforest. They have conical to ovoid pseudobulbs, from the top of which are produced 2 or more narrowly elongated, lance-shaped, folded, leathery or fleshy leaves. Racemes of fragrant flowers arise from the bases of the pseudobulbs from autumn to spring. Zygopetalum
Growing conditions Watering and misting Propagation
Cool- to Intermediate-growing orchids. Grow in epiphytic orchid potting mix. When in growth, provide humid conditions with bright light. In winter, admit full light. Water freely all year, sparingly in winter. Divide the plant or remove backbulbs.
